Buying guide

Fans don't lower the air temperature, but moving air helps sweat evaporate so a room feels several degrees cooler for a fraction of an air conditioner's price and power use. Tower and standing fans cover a whole room; table and USB fans are good for a desk or bedside. Bladeless fans cost more but are quieter and safer around kids.

Frequently asked questions

Are fans still in stock at OBI in Germany?
Usually yes — fans restock far more often than air conditioners. The map above shows live OBI pickup availability; green and amber markers have a fan in stock right now.
Which fan is best during a heatwave?
For cooling a whole room, a tower or standing fan moves the most air. For a desk or bed, a table fan is enough. Place a fan near an open window in the evening to pull in cooler air.
What's the difference between a fan and an air cooler?
A fan only moves air. An air cooler (Luftkühler) also passes that air over water or ice to drop its temperature slightly. Air coolers cost more than fans but far less than an air conditioner.
How much does a fan cost in Germany?
Table fans start around €15–25, full-size standing and tower fans run roughly €25–90, and bladeless fans cost more. Current prices for each model are shown on the cards above.
